For over decades, limestone quarry, located in Kanchanaburi, west of Thailand has caused health problems to local citizens and poor environmental conditions such as air pollution, water contamination and soil infertility. As a consequence, a 351-acre site becomes brownfield after quarry concession expiry. This proposal aims to reclaim as well as conserve geological erosion process. By reclaiming on unique and extreme site conditions ,botanical park is proposed to rejuvenate area with biomass from limestone plants, create recreational and educational center and become both provincial and Southeast Asia tourists attraction. Natural succession and bio-engineering are two main strategies that are proposed in this project in order to achieve the goal. From the data collecting from survey with mining engineer, extensive research and through analysis with the understanding of landscape character, geological changes, soil provenance process and plant society, the design demonstrates the potential of landscape intervention that can restore environment, improve biodiversity and raise awareness among generations about environment conservation.
