“The space within the temple is efficiently utilized and regulated. The functional spaces were created, replacing the former parking lot. The added pedestrian footpath increases walkability and the economic activities in the neighborhood. This can be a role model and inspiration for developing the other Buddhist temple in the future.”

Project Summary :
Consider the circulation within the Phra That Phanom Woramahawihan temple that many people are coming to the pagoda both during normal times and during festivals. Most areas developed without effective planning. Causing the temple area to lack peace and order. We foresaw that these areas have the potential to develop to support activities during the festival. Develop areas that are not used to recreation areas. Revitalize the temple area to encourage the Phra That to be more elegant.

แนวคิดหลักของโครงการ :
วัดพระธาตุพนมวรมหาวิหาร วัดมหาวิหารแห่งจอมเจดีย์ ที่มีพระธาตุจอมเจดีย์องค์สำคัญของไทย-ลาว และเป็นที่รวมศรัทธาและนานาศาสนกิจของมหาชนไว้อย่างครบครัน วัดแห่งนี้จึงมีมหาชนจำนวนมากหลั่งไหลมาสักการะบูชาองค์พระธาตุและร่วมประเพณีตลอดทั้งปี ทางวัดจึงต้องจัดการพื้นที่เพื่อรองรับคนจำนวนมากและพื้นที่ค้าขายโดยรอบไม่ให้บดบังความสง่างามขององค์พระธาตุ
ผู้ออกแบบดำเนินงาน ได้ทำการวิเคราะห์ผังการใช้พื้นที่และโครงข่ายการสัญจรภายในวัด รวมถึงความเชื่อมโยงในการสัญจรสู่องค์พระธาตุทั้งในช่วงเวลาปกติและช่วงเทศกาลทำบุญ พบว่าพื้นที่ส่วนใหญ่มีการพัฒนาและขยายพื้นที่โดยไม่ได้วางแผนทำให้ขาดความเชื่อมโยงกัน ทั้งในแง่ของกิจกรรมการใช้งานและการสัญจรทั้งทางเท้าและยานพาหนะ รวมถึงไม่มีการจำกัดการเข้าถึงของรถยนต์และจักรยานยนต์ทำให้อาจเกิดอันตราย ทั้งยังส่งผลต่อความสง่างามขององค์พระธาตุอีกด้วย
